Do You Have Income Tax Reference Books and a Tax Library?

To have a successful tax preparation business you need to purchase income tax reference books for your tax library. Tax laws are complicated and change every year. It’s just not possible to keep all of the ever-changing income tax laws on the tip of your tongue.
Many tax research companies offer their products online. They offer abridged, desk-top versions and full blown versions. CCH, BNA, PPC and RIA Thompson have several tax reference books and research products to choose from. CCH’s Master Tax Guide and PPC’s Quickfinder are excellent desktop reference books. You will find other tax research books at local bookstores.

Some income tax preparers have been acting as "tax experts" without having a clue about what they are doing. Since the IRS auditing division has been playing Rip Van Winkle, it has given a false sense of approval to the taxpaying public and has allowed these preparers to thrive.

The IRS has been awakening from its audit slumber and is making promises of increasing its audit coverage. Hopefully this will discourage aggressive and ill-prepared tax preparers and makes it more important than ever for tax preparers to own good, up to date tax reference books.
