Income Tax - IRS Forms
If you're brave enough to prepare your own income tax return you will need forms, lots of forms. The IRS used to furnish copies of tax forms to Libraries, Post offices and tax preparers for free. But I have noticed it is getting more difficult to find tax forms in public buildings. Most tax preparers have the capability of printing a blank tax form from within their tax software program. |

To fullfill their mission to provide top quality service, the IRS provides free tax forms on their website. It's the official source for IRS tax products. The most common way to retrieve a tax form from the IRS website is to use a free program called Adobe Reader. For users of Adobe Reader: beginning October 25, 2004 new fill-in forms will be enabled with "document rights" which will allow you to save what you have filled in on your PC.

|
Version 5.1 or later of Adobe Reader is required. When the form is opened, a "document rights" message box will be displayed if this feature is available.
Most IRS forms come with instructions that are downloaded separately. Be sure to download both the particular form you are interested in as well as its related instructions.
